 Details about Expertise / Competences / Technologies
Teaching and Research: Senior Lecturer in Visual Culture specializing in Irish cultural history; research interests
include Modernism and European Design, Visual and Material Culture. Performance design (theatre, spatial, costume
design). Irish design in an international context. 19c and 20c Irish cultural history. Courses taught: History of
Performance; History of Thought and Visual Culture; Design and Material Culture; Shakespeare in Performance;
Modernism and the Avant-Garde; Research Methods; Film, Narrative and Character; Historical Research Methods for
Costume Design; Screenwriting and Literature; Shakespeare on Screen;


Funding:
2008-2011 (secondment) IADT Fellow at The Graduate School of Creative Arts & Media.I was part of the core team to
secure PRTLI funding for the initial project. Recruited graduate students, wrote and developed strategic
documentation, implemented strategic plans, secured funding bids, developed external academic and industry links,
involved in peer to peer training, initiated and ran a conference on Film and Education (filmsense) at IADT 2010, and
a Dance Symposium (The Many Bodies of Contemporary Dance) at Dance House/ Dance Festival, 2010. Co-hosted and
organized two major GradCAM Art and Research Conferences (2009. 2010). Curated a 5 week Performance Strand at
DLR5-8 in 2010 as part of an EU-EACEA funded project Creative Policies for Creative Cities Network undertaken by an
artist-research collective from GradCAM to develop new ideas in public culture.
