Brief description of your activity focus Research on controversial social themes to uncover potential hazards for humans and the environment followed by awarness raising and ecucation
Details about Expertise / Competences / Technologies GLOBAL 2000 is an independent Austrian environmental organisation with around 60 employees. Since 1982,
GLOBAL 2000 has been working on controversial social themes to uncover potential hazards for humans and the
environment. GLOBAL 2000 closely monitors the development of environmental policy in Austria and is committed
to ecological fairness and a future worth living both locally and around the globe.
GLOBAL 2000 acts on well-established scientific findings and by using all democratic means available. We are
actively opposed to each and every restriction of democratic freedom, but always in a non-violent and solution-
oriented way. GLOBAL 2000 is independent, politically inconvenient and critical of parties, the government and
the economy.
The NGO has been involved with over 200 projects of all sizes over the last 15 years. From the beginning of the
political campaigns, GLOBAL 2000 has been intensifying twinning projects with environmental groups in the
European Union. Therefore today the international networking experience is on a high level. The scope of projects
managed reaches from high-level EU projects with an turnover of 2 Million Euros to information projects on a
small scale with cities and communities.
As the future lies in the hands of the young people, GLOBAL 2000 put a particular emphasis on training and
collarboration with GLOBAL 2000 s volunteers and youth groups. In addition to our monthly internal trainings about
campaigning, press interaction and project management of ongoing projects, we offer within the internship on
environmental culture training and firsthand experience of working for an eco NGO. The internship is both about
learning the theoretical and technical basics and about putting them into practice instantly. It is awarded by the
UN as Decade of Education for sustainable Development project.
In all our projects we combine research, environmental protection and social responsibility. The focus of our
research activities is on chemical analysis of food, soil and water on the one hand and studies (such as thermal
insulation, renewables, ressource efficiency, food waste etc.) on the other hand.
Research findings are the basis for our awarness raising campaigns, consumer service, adult education and school
training programs supported by multivison shows. Helping victims of ecological disasters as well as link ecological
consciousness and migration is also part of our work. |
