Our activities are focused on developing higher education policy in Croatia.

The Institute for the Development of Education advocates a system of higher education that ensures equal
educational
opportunities, adheres to the principle of quality assurance, promotes international cooperation, supports lifelong
learning and meets both the needs of individual and society.

The Institute for the Development of Education contributes to the development of higher education policy, provides
expert support to institutions, connects domestic and international experts and enables individuals in Croatia and the
region to achieve their educational goals.

The main goal of the „VIRTUS“ project is to promote the importance of scholarships as a contributing factor to
popularization of academic mobility and democratization of higher education.

2. Platform for Career Advice Centres in Croatia

Creating a platform for starting professional guidance centres (Career Advice Centres) at Croatian universities

3. Establishing of Career Advice Services at Croatian Universities

Career guidance

The main objective of the project is launcing centres for professional guidance of students at 3 Croatian
universities
(University of Dubrovnik, University of Rijeka, J.J. Strossmayer University in Osijek) in order to enable them to
become
key stakeholders in academic community and labour market through work by professional guidance services for
students.

The main goal of the project is to contribute to recognition of prior learning (RPL) by providing insight into
procedural,
formal, legal and cultural grounds for RPL in the context of higher education, with emphasis on universities.

8. Croatia in the EU – Opportunities for students

Internationalization of higher education

Main objective of the project was to increase the level of information among two target groups in the City of
Zagreb
(vocational secondary and tertiary school students) about the opportunities for studying through mobility within
educational programmes, internships or volunteering in the EU. They were presented the possibilities which are
already
open to Croatian citizens, as well as incoming opportunities which will become active after Croatia joins the EU in
July
2013.

9. Peer Learning Initiative for the Social Dimension (PL4SD)

Social dimension of higher education

The objective of the PL4SD project was to provide policy-makers and practitioners with resources to develop
effective
measures for ensuring the social dimension of the European Higher Education Area.

12. ME4CataLOgue (Mechanical Engineering for Catalogue) - Croatian Catalogue of knowledge, skills and
competences
for Mechanical Engineering studies (Bachelor, Master and Doctoral study programmes) based on learning
outcomes

Qualification frameworks

The aim of the project ME4CataLOgue is to ensure continuous improvement of the higher education system in
the
mechanical engineering sector in Croatia related to the transferability and recognition of competences and
qualifications in accordance to the needs of the labour market at the national and also at EU level. The most
important
outcome of this project will be a catalogue of qualifications in the field of mechanical engineering in Croatia, and
one of
the goals is to educate students, teachers and the general public about the benefits of applying CQF.

13. Professional services for participation in the implementation of EUROSTUDENT V research in the
Republic of Croatia
EUROSTUDENT

Social dimension of higher education

The aim of the research is to collect data on the demographic profile of the student body, the socio-economic
status of
the students, the costs that students have during the studies, sources of funding, students satisfaction with
different
aspects of study, work during studies and their experiences and plans for international mobility. Data is collected
at
national level and national reports are produced but are analyzed at the level of all participating countries and
published
in an international report after each cycle of research.

Quality assurance

Overall objective of this project is to increase the transparency of public policy decisions regarding the
upholding of
quality standards in higher education (HE) and increase public access to results of assessments and evaluations of
the
quality at HE institutions.


15. Financial literacy for continuation of education
FINPIS

Higher education financing

The main objective of the Financial Literacy for Continuation of Education project is to increase the financial
literacy
of high school students, especially those of unfavorable socio-economic status, and vocational education and
training
students, in order to facilitate access to higher education.

16. IURISPRUDENTIA - Improving the Quality of Education at Faculties of Law in Osijek, Rijeka and Split
IURISPRUDENTIA

Qualification frameworks, quality assurance

Faculty of Law Osijek will together with its partners Faculties of Law in Split and Rijeka and the Institute for the
Development of Education in Zagreb, harmonize and modernize the existing study programs, develop standards of
qualifications and partial occupational standards.

17. Establishing higher education standards of qualification and occupation in the sector of mining,
geology and
chemical engineering
TARGET

Quality assurance, qualification frameworks

The main goal of the project is to develop standards of occupation and qualification in the field of mining,
geology,
petroleum mining and chemical technology, improvement of existing study programs at the Faculty of Mining,
Geology
and Petroleum Engineering and Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, and improvement of faculty and
student competencies at partner faculties.

18. Advancement of Programme Evaluation Procedure at the University of Rijeka

Qualification frameworks, quality assurance

Improving the quality of education at the University of Rijeka through the development of standards of
occupation,
qualification standards and study programs and programs of lifelong learning based on learning outcomes and in
accordance with the needs of the labor market.

19. Encouraging youth for higher education and academic mobility: Informing and counseling youth on the
opportunities
for study and financial support for study in Croatia and abroad

Higher education financing

Encouraging and informing young people for inclusion in higher education and academic mobility will be achieved
through the activities of education information and counseling at the Institute for the Development of Education
(IDE),
through web sites and social networks, and by enhancing the visibility of higher education among the target
groups and
the general public.

20. Financial literacy for youth: Informing and counseling youth on the basics of financial planning for
study in Croatia
and abroad

Higher education financing

The main objective of the project is to increase the financial literacy of young people, especially high school
students,
in order to facilitate their access to higher education and its successful completion as a precondition for
inclusion in the
labor market .
