 Details about Expertise / Competences / Technologies Logroño is a municipality in the north of Spain and the capital city of La Rioja. With over 150,000 inhabitants, it concentrates half of the region’s population and represents its financial, cultural, and service center. Located by the Ebro River, Logroño has historically been a crossroad and welcoming city, for example as part of The Way of St. James.
Logroño’s economy heavily relies on tourism and services, specially related to wine and gastronomy. It is a reference touristic and cultural destination, with all the required infrastructure and professionals. It is currently designing an action program to include municipal heritage sites and other cultural assets in a comprehensive tourist offer. It also has a strong ICT sector with many innovative companies providing high-quality services to the region.
Logroño has designed several strategic plans with the goal of improving the quality of life of its citizens, including: equal opportunities for men and women, inclusion of groups at risk of social exclusion and people with disabilities, rehabilitation of public spaces and deprived areas, or promotion of diverse cultural programs targeting children and youngsters.
Furthermore, Logroño is immerse in its smart city strategy implementation, including the digitalization of public services and the definition of a new relationship with its citizens for the sustainability of the city.
Logroño is interested in establishing partnerships with other cities for exchange of good practices, with social enterprises for innovative initiatives, and with citizen associations for reflecting on needs and expectations. Also, Logroño is willing to participate in cooperative projects as a pilot city. |
